Best Localized PlayStation One Games

The PlayStation One, what great memories and such a rich collection of games. Our childhood is packed in a box, with memories that will forever be cherished. Like me, many avid gamers like to revert to their past, enjoy the nostalgia, and feel in touch with their inner child. Most of the localized PlayStation games originate from Japan, and honestly, Japanese games also dominate the current localized lineup.

So the trend is not changing, and we may see it continue during the PlayStation 5 reigns. A noteworthy thing is that without a good gaming translation company, many of our beloved games might not have reached the heights of popularity we expected from them.

Here are some of the best PlayStation 1 games that have been localized:

The Final Fantasy Series

Many still regard the series as one of the best RPG games ever to exist. What makes you fall in love with the game is the characters, their development, and the exciting lore that keeps you hooked to the edge of your seat. The visuals are also groundbreaking, especially for that time. This series set the tone for many future game makers.

Metal Gear Solid

A masterpiece of a game, many play it on the PlayStation and many also play it in arcades. Hideo Kojima creates a masterpiece with this game. It has a gripping narrative, lovely cinematic scenes that tell a story, good mechanics, and endless hours of fun. You can still play this game on your mobile devices.

Resident Evil 2

I’m sure many of you played this game with fear and awe because I certainly did. One of my absolute favorites, and what surprises me the most is how good the graphics and gameplay are. The game is still very much playable and enjoyable. A horror game, that still regularly has games rolling out. The game is about navigating Racoon City during a zombie apocalypse. A survival horror shooter game is how I would characterize it.

Tekken 3

Still regarded as the best Tekken game to grace our screens. Tekken 3 is not just a game, it’s a feeling. You will see many arcades all over the world still offering this game and it is a fan favorite to this date. I have played all the Tekken games so far, but the PlayStation 1 version of Tekken 3 is by far the most fun. You have multiple character selection options, fluid gameplay, various game modes, and excellent cut scenes.

Tomb Raider

The debut Tomb Raider game is an absolute classic, and personally, it probably is the best Tomb Raider game to come out. Yes, yes I know the new ones have amazing graphics and the main character is crush worthy and gorgeous. But the classic form offers pure fun; the puzzles, lore, cut scenes, and exotic locations to explore are all brilliantly crafted.

At that time, the game had people going bonkers. Not to mention Angelina Jolie as Lara Croft Tomb Raider gave more traction to the game.

Castlevania: Symphony of the Night

Many consider this gothic vampire game to be the best in its genre. Moreover, many Castlevania games have come and gone. Yet many are yet to come, but this particular game is something special. Yes, it may not have the best graphics, but it is very engaging to play. The simplicity is what makes the game so enjoyable.

All the Mentioned Games have Series and Movies

The immense popularity of the games I mentioned above is evident from the fact that many movies, series, and comics are made based on them. Moreover, the sheer beauty and engagement of the lore are second to none. Another fun fact is that the movies, seasons, and cinematic experiences are also localized. The global audience demands this content in their language. It just goes to show the power that multilingual software translation services can have on your products.

The PlayStation One has a great library of games, and the ones I have mentioned above are just the tip of the iceberg! You can find many gems if you start looking for them.
